Race Day Coverage
Compete race day video coverage and interviews by Flotrack, Runnerspace.com and KTC Youth Athletics

2011 Race Video:

Race Records:
Female - Ally Colvin - 6:50 (2009) /  Male - Matt Sonnenfeldt (2010) - 4:50  The East Tennessee Chocolate Milk Mile, in only its third year, has produced numerous performances that currently populate the
World Rankings List.
Will you be the next to crack the top 20?

Race History:
Although, relatively new, the East Tennessee Chocolate Milk mile gained great success during the first two years that it was run. The first year showed an epic battle between Maclean O’Donnell and Matt Sonnenfeldt, in a race that showed its truly how fast you drink your milk that separates the champions from the rest. Maclean O’Donnell lived up to his chugging ability and beat Sonnenfeldt in a time of 4:51 to 5:01.  Both under the previous World Record of 5:04! The next year the rematch was set, but not without a little pre race controversy.  Could Maclean “WR” O’Donnell, not only
win, but break the new world record of 4:44 without any spikes?  In the end Macleans own mistake might have cost him the race as Matt Sonnenfeldt sailed in with a 4:50 to 5:04 victory; making him second all time world. The 2010 Milk Mile also earned $340 for the Markie Voyles Adopt-a-Kid Progam (link and information here: Markie Voyles Adopt-a-Kid Program).
Its a great way for runners to raise money for a worthy cause while testing themselves in a way they never dreamed possible.

volunteeryouthinvite11newweb2The 2012 Volunteer Youth Invitational

Tom Black Track

The University of Tennessee

July 14, 2012

" A new concept in Youth Track and Field"

In a perfect world Youth Track Meets would:

> Not have exorbitant entry fees

> Not take days of competition to complete

> Not have more age groups than there a meters on a track.

> Not have every conceivable event under the sun in a meet schedule

> Have reasonable event limits that prevent coaches and parents chasing medals at the expense of long term athletic development while facilitating a more efficient meet

>Have a limited mumber athltes per event to facilitate a quicker meet.  You enter early you get in.

If you are ready for a change in Youth Meets and are prepared to think out of the box then
the Volunteer Youth Invite is for you.

Meet Concept
The Volunteer Youth Invitational will be run in "event blocks"  Distance - Hurdles - Sprints - Relays - Throws - Jumps. All races will be section vs time finals with horizontal jumps and throws limited to three attempts.  Choose your event block - compete for 3-5 hours and head home.  No all day marathon unless you choose more than one block.  As a coach of a "full" team you can more easily coordinate event groups at the track and not have your entire team sitting at the track for the duration of the meet.

Meet Sanction
The Volunteer Youth Invite is a USATF Sanctioned meet.  AAU and USATF clubs are welcome and you are not required to have membership in either organization.  USATF Youth Rules apply.

Meet Entry
All entries and meet entry fee payments will be made online at the link provided below. No checks accepted. Online entry deadline is July 13, 2011 (midnight).  Meet entry fee is $10.00 per athlete, $20.00 per relay team.
