History The Knoxville Track Club was established in 1963 by area track, field and running enthusiasts. Among them track and field coach from the University of Tennessee named Chuck Roe. Roe and other legendary Knoxville track and field supporters like Bob Neff, Al Rovere, Charlie Durham and Hal Canfiield created the foundation for what is now one of the largest running clubs in the United States with over 2,000 active members.
The Knoxville Track Club Youth Athletics Program was started two years later in 1965 to help develop the sport of track and field and cross country in the local area. In its early years the tireless efforts of volunteers such as Charlie Durham, Garry Clendenon, Warren Hiesser and Sam Anderson helped lay the foundation for what now is one of the most successful programs of its kind in the United States. The Knoxville Track Club Youth Athletics program now serves over 7,000 kids aged 5-18 each year in the areas of Track and Field, Cross Country and Road Running. Encompasing 28 events and 8 instructional programs KTC Youth Athletics has grown into a year-round community support organization for our sport.
